Hilary Duff Said She Has A 'Talent' For Cutting Out Friends In Resurfaced Interview Weeks Before Ashley Tisdale Mom Group Drama!

What is Hilary Duff‘s special skill? She knows how to cut out friends who don’t pass the vibe check!

Weeks before her mom group drama with Ashley Tisdale exploded, the 38-year-old actress bragged about her “talent” for ditching pals who are not “right.” While reflecting on how she learned who to trust at a young age during an episode of Therapuss in November 2025, she told Jake Shane:

“I’ve always had a really good gauge with people — I think it’s, like, a little talent that I have really good friends and it doesn’t take me long to figure someone out [and] figure out if someone’s not for me.”

Hilary also noted she’s the “mom of [her] friend groups.” So does that mean she is possibly the de facto leader of this mom group? Hmm. The So Yesterday singer went on to say that “friendship breakups could possibly be worse than a breakup breakup.” She’s not wrong! It’s so hard! However, it sometimes needs to be done, and Hilary has a way of going about cutting ties with a pal. She explained:

“You have to own it and be like ‘I can’t show up for you in this capacity right now. It’s overwhelming. Like, I need some space.’ I’ve had to do it a few times. I always want my side of the street to be clean. I don’t want to make anyone feel bad, but my actions — I’d rather have a conversation about it.”

Well, that philosophy supposedly did not carry over when it came to Ashley! Hilary’s comments on the podcast resurfaced after the High School Musical alum slammed her former group of mom friends, which the Lizzie McGuire star, along with Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor, is a part of, for “toxic” and “mean-girl behavior.” In an essay for The Cut last week, Ashley claimed they excluded her from the group hangouts, which left her feeling “not cool enough.” It got to the point where she thought the situation was “too high school” for her, so she ditched them.

However, Ashley mentioned she doesn’t know why they shut her out and “probably never will.” If you’re curious, a source close to the mom group claimed to The US Sun that it all came down to Ashley not checking on any of her pals impacted by the LA wildfires — as well as making them “uncomfortable” with her political views. Another insider told Page Six the friendship breakup was “a long time coming,” noting that “she’s insufferable.”

Jeez!!!
