Hilary Duff & Mandy Moore 'Blindsided' By Ashley Tisdale Going Public With Mom Group Drama!

Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore are NOT happy about Ashley Tisdale going public with her mom drama!

As Perezcious readers know, the High School Musical alum got candid about leaving a “toxic” mom group in an essay for The Cut, and all fingers pointed to a group of her former gal pals, including Hilary, Mandy, and Meghan Trainor. Ashley’s rep has insisted she wasn’t talking about them, but it was too little, too late. The rumors have already spread, and judging by the way so many within the group have reacted (including Hilary’s husband), it’s just hard to believe they aren’t the ones she’s talking about!

While Hilary and Mandy have yet to address the drama, a source opened up to Us Weekly on Thursday about how the friends are feeling, sharing:

“They all feel blindsided and hurt by Ashley speaking out the way she did. From their perspective, they believed the group was supportive and coming from a good place, and they never thought there was any bad intent behind how things played out.”

And, regardless, they just don’t think Ash took the right approach. They felt “issues that could’ve been handled privately were instead made public, which made them feel unfairly portrayed.”

Beyond those frustrations, the source argued the group is NOT as toxic as Ashley made it sound:

“The moms insist there was no ‘mean girl’ behavior and say they were genuinely trying to be there for one another during a really vulnerable time in all of their lives.”

It’s still unclear the exact timeline of the icing out, but other sources have said that Ashley’s political views and her reported unwillingness to be supportive of her friends who were suffering during the Los Angeles fires — which occurred exactly a year ago — were the final straws. The fires could be the “vulnerable time” this new insider is alluding to.

It’s gotta be annoying to start their new year like this! We’ll see if any of ’em decide to speak out more publicly about what’s going on — or maybe they’re hoping the scandal will just blow over soon?
