Louisiana Mayor Found Guilty Of 'Indecent Behavior With A Juvenile' Was Caught By Her Own Son At Pool Party: 'Effed His Best Friend'

A now-former mayor of a small town in Louisiana has been convicted after being accused of indecent behavior with her son’s 16-year-old best friend during a pool party — and the testimony that is coming out of the trial ahead of her conviction is truly jaw-dropping.

So, Misty Roberts (pictured above) is the former mayor of the small town of DeRidder, Louisiana. She was found guilty by a jury this week at trial for engaging in sex with a minor back in 2024. The offense occurred during what multiple media outlets have described as an alcohol-fueled pool party — AND they occurred when the then-42-year-old woman was still mayor of that town, after having won her re-election with more than sixty percent of the local vote! Yeesh…

Per multiple local outlets in rural Louisiana via TMZ on Wednesday, it took the jury less than an hour to come back with the guilty verdict this week. Now, Roberts has been officially convicted of two felony charges: carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. And the specifics are just… GROSS.

For one, the victim — who was 16 at the time of the incident — testified at trial that Roberts sexually assaulted him at the pool party while he was completely drunk. The then-mayor was allegedly drunk, too, per the testimony at trial, with some folks who took the stand saying that she had been apparently drinking to the point of throwing up.

Roberts’ son, who was the victim’s best friend per KPLC-TV and other reports, testified that he saw his mom and friend hooking up through a crack in a window. Seriously?! We honestly can’t even imagine…

A woman named Jill Weaver also testified during the trial. She’s the best friend and former sister-in-law of the ex-mayor, and she recounted a heated exchange Misty had with her son after the alleged rape. Per the New York Times and others, Weaver said Roberts’ son started screaming at her after the sex took place:

“He was saying [Roberts] effed his best friend.”

And it doesn’t end there! When Roberts was confronted by her son and others, Weaver claimed the woman took to “ranting and raving” toward her own child.

Roberts even allegedly threatened to harm herself at the point, too — which made Weaver’s son, who was also there at the pool party, go into the house, unload a firearm, and put it inside a car so that Roberts couldn’t find it.

Jeez…

Then, when Roberts’ son told the victim that the two had been recorded on video doing the deed, the disgraced mayor allegedly challenged her son to FIGHT the kid in response, screaming:

“Go fight your friend. He’s the one who did it.”

WHAT?!

It’s also alleged that Roberts later sent panicked texts to other teens who were at the pool party, too — ordering them to “lie ’til you die” if anybody ever asked them what happened. Again… WHAT????

Later during the trial, per the Associated Press, Roberts’ ex-husband Duncan Clanton took the stand and testified that the morning after the party, she confessed to him that she had engaged in indecent behavior with the drunk teen. Clanton also said that Roberts asked him to reach out to the victim’s parents to “see how they were feeling about everything.”

BTW, Roberts’ son wasn’t the only person to reportedly see the duo that night. The former mayor’s daughter also told the court that she saw her mom and the boy “on top of each other” during the pool party.

Oh, and somehow, it keeps getting worse even beyond all that! After the incident, the victims’ mother reportedly texted Roberts a message trying to ensure that the older woman wasn’t pregnant. In response, the former mayor confirmed that she was on birth control.

And in a separate text thread, one of Roberts’ friends sent a message to a group chat encouraging her to take Plan B. And Roberts promptly did just that, just to be safe. Which, the trial also included testimony from a DoorDash driver who confirmed that he delivered an emergency contraceptive to Roberts’ house the next day! Sheesh, the prosecutors really covered all their bases! No wonder the jury’s deliberations were so quick…

Like we said, Roberts had been the mayor of the small town. She was a two-term winner, having been re-elected with 60 percent of the vote back in 2022 before abruptly resigning from office in July of 2024 — just five days before she was arrested for the crimes in question here.

As for now, following the guilty verdict, Misty’s lawyer Todd Clemons spoke to TMZ on Wednesday about it. He said the legal team is “very, very disappointed” in the verdict. Clemons also said that while Misty reportedly respects the jury and their decision this week, she plans to appeal their verdict.

To top it all off, Clemons concluded:

“At this particular point, there’s no apology that I’m gonna give on her behalf.”

Uhhh…

FYI, Roberts will be sentenced in April for these charges. She faces up to 17 years in prison, per the US Sun and others. For his part, Clemons was insistent that Misty is innocent (girl, how?!) and that her legal team will do everything in their power to convince a judge not to send her to prison even amid the ongoing appeals process.

We just can’t even believe how out of control this whole situation got back on the fateful day of the offense. Here’s hoping the victim, her son, and all their friends can deal with the emotional and psychological aftermath of all that. Ugh.
