The difficulty of joining Figure AI is comparable to that of the most difficult university in the United States
On December 14, Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock publicly stated on his personal social platform that since its inception in 2022, Figure AI has received 176,000 resumes, of which only about 425 have been hired, with an acceptance rate of 0.24%. If the number of applications is evenly distributed over the years in which Figure AI operates - close to 59,000 applications per year, its acceptance rate is lower than that of the most difficult universities in the United States. According to U.S. News & World Report, Caltech has the lowest acceptance rate of just 3%.
Companies like Figure AI are at the intersection of two major trends in the job market. On the one hand, robotics and artificial intelligence, as the hottest technology fields at present, have attracted a large influx of talents, further intensifying the competition in this track. On the other hand, the competition for top talents among enterprises is also becoming increasingly fierce. Top tech companies like Meta and OpenAI are in the race for AI talent, offering salary packages of up to seven to nine figures just to poach top AI researchers. Even tech startups are vying for AI talent, offering higher equity benefits and other benefits that may not be readily available at larger companies, such as co-founder titles or more research time.
In fact, domestic embodied intelligent leading enterprises are also facing the same situation such as difficulty in recruiting talents.
According to a recent survey by Beijing Institute of Technology, there is currently a gap of about 1 million embodied intelligent talents in various industries, especially in key fields such as senior algorithms, motion control, and mass production engineering.
In the competition in the talent market, the position of "volume" is more concentrated in the head company or core positions. For example, the algorithm engineer positions released by Byte, Huawei, BYD and other companies have a monthly salary of 25,000 to 90,000 yuan, attracting a large number of job seekers, resulting in the extremely strict screening of these popular companies, often requiring multiple rounds of technical interviews, in addition to high thresholds such as project experience, academic papers, competition results or open source contributions, etc., the actual pass rate is extremely low.
